Most doctors believe that corporations and LLCs protect you from liability, but in reality, most lawsuits against doctors are personal. Why? Because they didn't come to see your business...they came to see YOU!

MYTH #3: When I die everything I own will go to my family.

Most doctors believe that if they die, everything just goes to their family, or they have a will so it will be fine. The reality is, a will is a one-way ticket to probate and not having your affairs in order leaves your family dealing with a lot of details when they should be grieving and feeling like you left them secure.

MYTH #2: My malpractice insurance protects me when I get sued.

Most doctors believe malpractice insurance protects you if there is a lawsuit and makes the problem go away. The reality is that a malpractice settlement unleashes a barrage of problems, including putting your license in jeopardy with the NPDB.

MYTH #4: My CPA makes sure I don't overpay my taxes every year.

Most doctors believe they are overpaying their taxes but nothing can be done about it.

The reality is, you are taxed when you EARN, SPEND, INVEST, RETIRE, and even when you DIE. Your CPA isn't looking at the ENTIRE tax picture, they are looking at 1/5th of the picture. It's time to let the tax code finally work for you, not against you.
